Profits of Kohat Cement increase 33 percent
Kohat Cement Company Limited (KOHC), one of the biggest white cement manufacturers of the country, on Thursday announced a 33 percent increase in full-year net profit amid an increase in the sales.
In its financial results issued to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company reported a net profit of Rs4.40 billion for the financial year ended June 30, up against Rs3.32 billion the previous year.
The company also announced a final cash dividend of Re1/share, which is in addition to the already paid interim cash dividend of Rs5/share.
The company posted earnings per share (EPS) of Rs28.53/share as compared to Rs21.50 in the same period of the last year.
During this year, net sales of KOHC increased 12.4 percent to Rs14.01 billion as compared to the last year’s net sales of Rs12.47 billion.
Cost of sales was posted at Rs7.52 billion against Rs7.65 billion in the last year.
KOHC posted a gross profit of Rs6.49 billion as compared to Rs4.81 billion during the same period of the last year. Other income of the company rose to Rs479.30 million as compared to Rs462.03 million in the previous year.
The directors of the company in the financial statement said the healthy profitability was mainly due to historic growth in sales volume and reduction in the international coal prices and further cheap electricity generation from the company’s captive power plant.
