Faisalabad commissioner for taking steps against Congo virus
FAISALABAD: Commissioner Momin Agha has directed the administration of all four districts of the Faisalabad Division to implement solid strategy to control the Congo virus.
He was presiding over a meeting held to review the Eidul Azha arrangements here on Friday.
The commissioner said that the Livestock and Health departments should work jointly to meet this challenge.
He said that the threat of Congo virus had been escalated due to sacrificial animals, which were being brought from different parts of the country. He stressed upon the need of mass awareness campaign to avoid the Congo virus and said that the cattle traders, butchers, breeders, shepherds and other stakeholders should be made sensitise about following the preventive and precautionary measures against ticks of Congo virus.
He said that banners should be displayed at cattle markets, slaughterhouses and other important places inscribing precautionary directions against the Congo virus. He directed to keep the livestock teams active on the pickets established at the entry points of the districts for screening the animals being brought from the other districts.
He maintained that special livestock medical camps should work efficiently at the cattle markets and sale/purchase points for ensuring the spray of necessary medicines for killing the ticks.
He said that special seminars and workshops should be conducted for apprising the stakeholders of the symptoms of the Congo disease and its medical treatment timely.
He advised that all necessary facilities should be provided in the cattle markets/sale points established by the district administration.
