PHC puts police on notice for not registering FIR against FIA director
Fake cheques case
PESHAWAR: A local court on Friday issued notice to police officials for not registering first information report (FIR) of a citizen against director of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in fake cheques case and refusing to return his loan of Rs50.1 million.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Aurangzeb Khan, issued notice to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Peshawar, to submit report in the court before September 5,which was fixed as the date for the next hearing. The cop was asked to explain as to why the police did not register the FIR against the FIA director, Noorullah, when he refused to return the borrowed money.
The court issued direction in the application filed by Ahmadullah against the FIA director under Section 22-A of the Criminal Procedure Code. He had sought registration of the FIR. During the course of hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer, Aminur Rehman Yousafzai, submitted that the applicant Ahmadullah had given Rs50.1 million to Noorullah as a loan in 2011. He said the FIA director refused to return the loan to the applicant but later agreed to pay back the money in the presence of the council of elders. The official issued bank cheques.
He said all the cheques bounced back as there was no money in the account. The lawyer argued that the police officials refused to register FIR against the FIA director for not returning the loan and then handing over fake cheques to the applicant.
