3 micro-power projects completed in far-off Chitral villages
CHITRAL: Three European Union (EU)-funded power projects were inaugurated in two remote villages in Torkhow tehsil of the district.
The three micro hydel power stations, which will generate 150, 100 and 80 kilowatts electricity, were completed in Ujno village and Ruwa and Noghor locality of the Rech village, respectively.
A large number of local elders, officials and the local government representatives attended the opening ceremony.The participants chanted slogans in support of EU and the SRSP when the light was switched on.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) Masoodul Mulk said that several micro hydel power projects were being built under the Peace project of the EU.He said that three similar projects - 35 kilowatt and 150 kilowatt - were being built in Terich and Khot villages. The projects in the villages would be inaugurated soon, he added. The LG members on the occasion lauded the commitment of the SRSP to grassroots level development and urged it to launch more projects in the area.
