Suspect held, terror bid foiled in Quetta

QUETTA: Security forces foiled a sabotage bid on the occasion of Defence Day while arrested a suspected terrorist during planting Improvised explosive devices (IED) under Sariab bridge here on Saturday.
An statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, acting on a tip off, security forces personnel along with bomb disposal squad team reached the site and apprehended a suspected terrorist when he was planting IED under the bridge of Sariab which was defused.
A remote-controlled IED weighing six kilograms, mortar shell, nuts and bolts were recovered from suspect possession. The suspected terrorist confessed to having links with India’s intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in initial investigation.
During probing, he also confessed to planting IED in two separate areas of Quetta in past incident in which several people killed. Further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have arrested two suspects in a search operation in Zhob area of Balochistan on Saturday.
Spokesman for LAEs said that acting on a tip off, LAEs personnel carried out search operation in the area and apprehended two suspects along with arms.
They were stated to be commanders of banned militant organisation. Further investigation was underway.
