Irfan to face Amir in National Ranking Badminton final
KARACHI: Irfan Saeed and Amir Saeed cruised into the men’s singles final while Palwasha Bashir and Sehra Akram made it to the summit clash of the women’s singles event of All-Pakistan National Ranking Badminton Tournament which is under way in Lahore.
Irfan, who belongs to WAPDA, thrashed teammate Azeem Sarwar in straight sets 21-15, 21-17 in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, another WAPDA player Amir also recorded a straight-set win over NBP’s Murad Ali, registering a 21-18, 22-20 triumph.
NBP’s Palwasha Bashir proved too good for Sidra Hamid of WAPDA in the women’s singles event semi-finals to record a convincing 21-7, 21-2 triumph.
WAPDA’s Sehra Akram dropped a set against teammate Khizra Rasheed before recording a 21-15, 16-21, 22-20 victory after a tough battle.
In the women’s doubles event semi-finals, the pair of Khizra Rasheed and Sidra Hamid of WAPDA defeated Sara Mohmand and Mahoor Shahzad 9-21, 21-12, 23-21. Saima Waqas and Palwasha thrashed Ghazala Siddique and Javeria Tahir of SNGPL 21-8, 21-10.
