LHC Multan Bench dismisses petition against PML-N MNA
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: The Lahore High Court Multan Bench on Wednesday dismissed the petition seeking disqualification of PML-N MNA Abdur Rahman Kanju due to non-prosecution.
The petition was filed by Safdar Hussain Gilani seeking disqualification of PML-N MNA Abdur Rahman Kanju for allegedly using fictitious CNIC and borrowing agriculture loan on forged identification. The case trialed for more than two years and finally dismissed due to non-prosecution. Abdur Rahman Kanju had won from NA-155 Lodhran-11 as an independent candidate in 2013 general elections by securing 85,376 votes. Later, he joined PML-N. Legal counsel to the petitioner Azhar Kamlana told media that petitioner Safdar Hussain Gilani had filed the petition in 2014 before the LHC Multan Bench, challenging dual CNICs and educational certificates of Abdur Rahman Kanju. The LHC Multan Bench had sought detailed response from Abdur Rahman Kanju, but he remained aloof in submitting his response after lapsing more than one year and he used delaying tactics in submission of response, he said. The petitioner counsel said that Abdur Rahman Khan Kanju was allegedly found in using dual CNICs on two different names as he was doing his family business on CNIC bearing name Sardar Khan and political business on the name Abdur Rahman Khan Kanju. However, the petition dismissed due to non-prosecution.
