Two SHOs shot dead in separate Swabi attacks
SWABI: Two police officials were killed while as many cops sustained injuries in separate attacks in the district, officials said on Monday.
They said that suspected militants killed a police official in broad daylight in Razaar tehsil. The sources said Saeedul Ibrar was working as additional station house officer (SHO) and was posted in the Nowshera Cantonment.
They said he left home for duty in Nowshera on the day of the occurrence. He alighted from the vehicle at Adina Bridge and started waiting to catch a passenger coach for Nowshera. Eyewitnesses said he wanted to buy something from a nearby shop. They said when he moved towards the trader, a motorcyclist appeared all of a sudden and opened fire on him, leaving him seriously injured.
The injured police official was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, where he succumbed to his injuries. The eyewitnesses said another accomplice was waiting for the assailant for facilitation.
The attacker and the accomplice fled the scene after committing the crime. The officials said the cop might have been killed in retaliation for the recent killing and arrest of the militants by the police.
Meanwhile, the slain cop was laid to rest at Shah Dhand Baba graveyard in Mardan district.A large number of villagers, relatives, well-wishers and police officials attended his funeral prayer.
A smartly-turned out contingent of the police presented salute to the fallen cop. In another attack, a station house officer (SHO) was killed and two cops were injured. It was learnt that Asghar Khan, the SHO, and his two subordinates from Zaida Police Station suffered bullet wounds when unidentified men attacked their vehicle.
The injured cops were rushed to Bacha Khan Medical Complex in Shah Mansoor area. Asghar succumbed to his injuries while the other two cops were referred to a hospital in Peshawar. The police launched a search operation in Zaida village soon after the attack.
