Concern over rising incidents of children abduction

GUJRANWALA: People have expressed concern over the rising incidents of abduction of children in Gujranwala.
Talking to newsmen here, the people said that incidents of children kidnapping had increased during the last some days but police had so far allegedly not taken any action in this regard.
During the last 10 days, many incidents of children kidnapping have been reported in the district. In Garjakh, relatives of an abducted boy staged a demonstration against police for not recovering him.
About three days ago, people overpowered an accused while he was kidnapping a boy and hander over him to Khiali police. Later, the SHO told newsmen that the accused was not a kidnapper and he caught the boy to sexually abuse him.
Citizens also caught a man when he was trying to abduct a boy in Civil Lines area. Later, the accused was handed over to police. However, police told newsmen that he was not a kidnapper and he came here from Abbottabad for his business.
Meanwhile, in a press release, CPO Waqas Nazir said that no incident of child abduction was reported to any police station and they were only rumours. He advised the people not to pay any heed to rumours in this regard.
