Attempt to kidnap boy foiled in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: An abduction bid was foiled at Shaukatabad on Wednesday.
Sources said that three accused were allegedly trying to abduct a boy when people caught one of the alleged kidnappers, later identified as Rafaqat of Abbottabad, and gave him a good beating. However, his two accomplices fled. The accused was handed over to the Civil Lines police for further investigation. During investigation, the accused told that he was not a kidnapper and was came here on a business tour. Meanwhile, relatives of a boy, who was allegedly abducted two days ago, staged a demonstration against police at Garjakh. The protesters alleged that the police had arrested an accused and he was hander over to Khiali police but later the SHO told that he was not a kidnapper. They demanded immediate recovery of the abducted boy.
CPB TEAM TORTURED ON SUSPICION: Citizens tortured a Child Protection Bureau team on suspicion on Sialkot Road on Wednesday.
Reportedly, a child Protection Bureau team, led by Khurram, conducted an operation against child labour on Sialkot Road and was trying to take away two street boys Asif and Shahzeb along with them when some passers-by caught on suspicion that they were kidnappers. Later, Aroop police rushed to the spot and got released the team members from the peoples after ensuring their identity.
CASE AGAINST SUB-ENGINEER ORDERED FOR THREATENING INQUIRY OFFICER: Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment Director General Muzaffar Ranjha has directed to register a case against sub-engineer of the Highway Department for allegedly threatening an inquiry officer of the ACE.
Reportedly, former sub-engineer of the ACE Tariq Aziz Awan gave an application to the ACE DG in which he stated that he was an inquiry officer in a corruption case against Punjab Highway Department officers, including sub-engineer Khalid Javed Chattha. He said that during investigation, allegations against the officers were proved and he gave his findings against the highway officers. Later, a case was registered against the said officers and they were arrested. The applicant alleged that sub-engineer Khalid Chattha threatened him on phone that he would be killed soon. At this, the ACE DG ordered registration of another case against the sub-engineer.
COP HELD FOR TAKING BRIBE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Wednesday arrested an additional SHO for allegedly taking bribe from a man.
Complainant Falk Sher in his application stated that his wife was murdered in the limits of City Kamoke police. He alleged that additional SHO Muhammad Rafiq received bribe from him for the arrest of accused persons. However, Muhammad Rafiq did not arrest the accused persons, he alleged. At this, an inquiry was conducted in which allegations were proved. Later, accused Muhammad Rafiq was arrested.
