From Our Correspondent
OKARA: People staged a demonstration against the government for not checking the incidents of children kidnapping here on Tuesday.
The protesters carrying batons also blocked Okara-Depalpur Road at Sobha Ram Bridge. They were chanting slogans against the government.
On information, a heavy police contingent from Depalpur City police station reached the spot and tried to clear the road, but the protesters started pelting police vehicles with stones. Some people were also injured during the incident. Somehow or the other, the police succeeded to cool down the mob and got the road cleared.
Later, on the report of SI Shafiq Ahmad, police registered a case against more than 100 protesters, including Allah Ditta, Sajid Nawaz, Muhammad Ashraf, Liaqat Ali, Muhammad Tufail, Aziz Ahmad and Zafar Iqbal, under Sections 7 ATA, 16 MPO, and 506-B, 148, 149, 427 and 342 of the PPC.
