RAWALPINDI: The army chief, Gen Raheel Sharif, visited the flood-affected areas of Chitral on Wednesday. He was given a detailed briefing by the local military commanders on rescue and relief efforts by the Pakistan Army, the FWO and Frontier Corps troops, said a statement issued by the ISPR.
He assured flood victims of continuation of relief activities by the army till the situation was fully restored. The COAS directed the FWO to keep the communication infrastructure of Chitral with the rest of the country open. He also lauded the tireless efforts of the FWO, the FC KP, army troops and the Army Aviation who are working round the clock in rescue and relief operations. Meanwhile, Michael Fallon, Secretary of State for Defence, UK, visited the General Headquarters on Wednesday and called on COAS General Raheel Sharif. During the meeting, matters related to defence and security cooperation and measures to further enhance bilateral defence and training collaboration were discussed.
