Constable martyred, SI, FC man injured in Swabi encounter
SWABI: A police constable was martyred while a sub-inspector and an FC man were injured when an encounter took place between them and terrorists at Gadoon Amazia on Tuesday.
Swabi DPO Javed Iqbal told newsmen a terrorist was also killed when the police raided a house on a tip about the presence of the terrorists in Daud Killay in the vicinity of the Utlah Police Station.
When the police raided the house in the bordering area of District Buner, the terrorists opened fire as a result of which Constable Muhammad Javed of the Sheikh Jana village embraced martyrdom while Sub-inspector Muhammad Tariq of the Bakar village and an FC man Muhammad Sajjad sustained bullet wounds. They were later shifted to Peshawar for treatment.
The police shot dead one of the terrorists identified as Anwar Sayed who was wanted to police in terrorism cases. The police arrested two brothers of the terrorist from the house and recovered a hand grenade, one Kalashnikov, two pistols and cartridges. A search operation was conducted in the area after the encounter during which dozens of suspects were taken into custody.
