Over Rs9.314b budget approved for Mardan
MARDAN: The district council on Thursday approved more than Rs9.314 billion development budget for the fiscal 2016-17.
The budget was passed in the ongoing session of the district council held with District Naib Nazim Asad Ali in the chair.
District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar presented the budget with the total outlay of over Rs9.314 billion for the financial year 2016-17. He said that budget has been prepared in consultation with the opposition members.
Himayatullah Mayar said that Rs57.9 million had been allocated for education and roads construction, respectively.
He added that Rs24.3 million were earmarked for basic health units and civil dispensaries, adding another 28.9 million would be spent on projects of providing clean drinking water to people.
Allocation for other projects included Rs14.4 million for women development, Rs12.4 million for agriculture sector, Rs14.9 million for sports while Rs70 million as discretionary fund of the district government. He said the district council was committed to serving the people. The council approved the budget with majority.
