11 PTI, PML-N workers held after clashes

GUJRANWALA: A PML-N candidate Rana Akhtar Ali on Sunday defeated the PTI candidate Ehsanullah Virk by over 21,000 votes in the PP-100 by-election.According to unofficial, unverified results, the PML-N has won this seat again in the by-election. Rana Akhtar Ali bagged 49,991 votes while Ehsanullah Virk could secure 28,380 votes.
The by-election was held on PP-100 after the PML-N’s Rana Shamshad Ahmed Khan died. The PML-N awarded the ticket to Rana Shamshad’s brother Rana Akhtar Ali Khan.Celebrations were seen at Rana Akhtar’s home after the victory. The PML-N workers danced on the beats of dhol to celebrate the victory.
Rana Akhtar said that he was thankful to the voters for his win and will work for people’s welfare.Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated Rana Akhtar on winning the PP-100 by-election. He said the victory of the PML-N candidate showed the confidence of the people in government policies.
Meanwhile, 11 PML-N and PTI members were arrested on Sunday after clashes between activists of both the parties.Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif took notice of display of firearms during the by-election and sought a report from the Gujranwala RPO.
