Cases to be finalised without pressure,
influence: ACE Director

GUJRANWALA: Anti-Corruption Establishment Director Rana Abdul Shakoor Monday said corruption cases would be finalised without any pressure and influence.
Addressing a meeting at his office, he said strict action would be initiated against corrupt elements.
He asked officials of the ACE to work honestly otherwise they would face action.
Rana said mandate of the department was to investigate financial corruption and corrupt practices prevalent in all provincial departments and to achieve the stipulated goals, the working of the department was being streamlined with disciplinary action against officials found guilty of using influence.
He said accountability process would be carried out in a completely transparent manner and officials of the department must be upright and honest.
He directed circle officers to maintain a profile of their respective cases and update their progress in cases to be reviewed by him regularly. Rana said a complaint centre has been set up to finalise minor corruption cases relating to various government departments.
He said arrest of proclaimed offenders must be assured, saying that action would be taken against the circle officer concerned if any PO found working in any department.
12 SHOPS SEALED: City Assistant Commissioner Attique-ur-Rehman Monday visited different areas of the city and sealed 12 shops and imposed fine on shopkeepers on charges of poor hygienic conditions.
Meanwhile, the AC removed encroachments from Hafizabad Road and fined four shopkeepers for encroachment.
He warned shopkeepers of stern actions if they violated regulations.
ILLICIT ARMS RECOVERED: Police Monday arrested an accused and recovered illicit arms from his possession at Chand Da Qila Bypass, Gujranwala.
DSP CIA Imran Abbas Chadhar told reporters that on a tip-off, police party pulled up a vehicle and recovered a big arms cache, including 12 Kalashnikovs, pistols and thousands of bullets from a man. The arms were being smuggled from KP for Lahore.
