Rs 200m hostel approved for UAF

FAISALABAD: A meeting of Board of Directors (BoD), Endowment Fund Secretariat, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad Monday approved the construction of Rs 200 million hostel to meet increasing strength of students.
The 19th meeting was held at the Syndicate Room with Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan (SI), the Vice Chancellor, UAF in the chair.
Rs 200 million will be spent from the EFS principal amount of Rs 824 million, the meeting was told.
The meeting also approved Rs 73.5 million budget estimates of the Endowment Fund Secretariat for the financial year 2016-17. The House also proposed progressive farmer Syed Faisal Shah, former PARC chairman Dr Ehsan Tasneem, DG Extension Punjab Dr Anjum Ali Butter to become new members of the BoD.
The VC said the varsity enrolment had surpassed 24,000 students and it was the need of the hour to invest in infrastructure to facilitate the students with modern facilities.
He said two hostels funded by the Punjab and Federal government were also being established at the campus. He also stressed upon the need to conduct tangible research to address the problems of the common man, industry and farming community.
He also called for promoting technical education to compete with the rest of the world.
Agriculture Linkage Programme (ALP) Director Dr Ahmad Bakhsh Mahar, Prof Dr Zahir Shah nominee of VC Agriculture University Peshawar, EFS Executive Director Prof Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir, Registrar Ch Muhammad Hussain, and Treasurer Umar Saeed Qadri, and other notables attended the meeting.
