Bahawalpur termed cultural mosaic of country

c: Minister of State for Higher Education and Interior Engineer Baleeghur Rehman Saturday said Bahawalpur is a civilisational and cultural mosaic of Pakistan.
Addressing a ceremony held in connection with inaugurating the restoration of old fountain of Chowk Fawara, the minister said Bahawalpur’s rich cultural heritage is a practical reflection of our progressive and enlightened civilizational glory.
The ceremony was attended by Commissioner Bahawalpur Saqib Zafar, MNA Sabeeha Nazeer, MPAs Fouzia Ayyub Qureshi, Hasina Naaz, former MPA Samiullah Chaudhry, Tabish Alweri, Regional Police Officer Dr Ehsan Sadiq, DCO Dr Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar, Convener CPLC Dr Rana Muhammad Tariq and others.
The minister highly appreciated district government’s endeavor to pay special attention to re-functionalize 100-year-old dilapidated fountain. Besides, he said that Markazi Eidgah’s renovation and beautification has amply increased the aesthetic profile of Bahawalpur City.”The modern lighting system at Markazi Eidgah has immensely beautified this cultural heritage of our region”, he noted.
Baleeghur Rehman said beautiful and attractive historical monuments such as forts, palaces, museum, central library, academic institutions and historical gates collectively depict Bahawalpur’s rich and glorious cultural heritage which is our great civilizational asset.
He paid rich tribute to the special efforts of the district government Bahawalpur for restoring the old fountain and renovation of Markazi Eidgah and its lightening by using modern technology.
Later, the minister unveiled the inaugural plaque of fountain and illuminated the Markazi Eidgah by pushing the operational button.
On the occasion, Commissioner Bahawalpur Saqib Zafar maintained that a comprehensive development framework has been launched to protect augment and renovate both the historical buildings and monuments of Bahawalpur division. He said that Bahawalpur’s great civilisational heritage is a pride of our nation. Therefore, special efforts are underway both to preserve and beautify all historical buildings which would enhance the aesthetic profile of Bahawalpur region, he said.
The Commissioner said reconstruction and renovation of Bahawalpur’s historical gates is underway and this project would be completed very soon. He maintained that re-operationalisation of old fountain and completion of renovation and illumination of Markazi Eidgah on Chand Raat is a gift to the citizens of Bahawalpur. DCO Dr Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar also spoke on the occasion and briefed on the restoration of old fountain and illumination of the Markazi Eidgah’s development project. He said that a park adjacent to the Markazi Eidgah has been handed over to Parks and Horticulture authority Bahawalpur which has restored its non functional fountain.
