Siraj leads funeral prayers for Edhi, Hizb commander
LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq led the funeral prayers for great social worker Abdus Sattar Edhi and Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani, who was martyred by Indian army in occupied Kashmir on Eid day, at Mansoorah lawn on Saturday.
Talking to the media on the occasion, he said the martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani by Indian forces in Indian-held Kashmir during Eid days mirrored the brutalities of the occupation army towards the Kashmiris.
JI central leaders, including Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, Maulana Abdul Ma’lik and Mian Maqsud Ahmed, were also present.
Sirajul Haq said Modi government had given a licence to the occupation forces in Indian held Kashmir to kill Kashmiri youths for using social media in support of their right to self-determination. He said Burhan Muzaffar Wani was martyred in a fake encounter after which the occupation forces opened firing at his funeral procession, killing eight others.
The JI ameer said the continuation of Kashmiris’ freedom movement despite oppression by eight hundred thousand Indian troops was an indication that the freedom movement could not be crushed through genocide. He said India was also tightening the noose against world renowned preacher Dr Zakir Naik in Kashmir as well as India and linking him with terrorists.
However, he said, that ban on Dr Zakir Naik and his channel would be considered an attack on the millions of Indian Muslims like the attack on Babri mosque.
Sirajul Haq deplored that while Indian army was carrying out genocide of the Kashmiris, the rulers in Islamabad were crazy for friendship and trade with India.
He said it was primarily due to the pro-India policies of Islamabad that the Kashmiris were still far from their destination.
However, he said, the Pakistani nation stood by the Kashmiris.
He said kashmiris were struggling for the completion of Pakistan as Kashmir was lifeline of Pakistan.
The JI ameer paid rich tributes to Abdul Sattar Edhi for his services for the humanity.
He said it would be the best way to pay homage to Edhi that the government strived to provide shelter to the homeless and free medical cover and education to the poor.
He also demanded that a university be named after the deceased, and efforts for the grant of Nobel Prize for him in recognition of his prolonged services to the human beings.
Earlier, Senator Sirajul Haq contacted JUI-F ameer Maulana Fazlur Rahman, the Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah, Maulana Samiul Haq and Aftab Sher Pao, on telephone and extended them Eid greetings besides discussing with them the political situation in the country.
