PESHAWAR: A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) losing candidate on Wednesday filed an election petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) seeking disqualification of Arbab Zarak Khan, son of a former federal minister Arbab Alamgir Khan as member of district council in the May 30 Local Government elections 2015.
Arbab Shafatullah, an unsuccessful candidate of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, filed election petition through his lawyer, Muhammad Ijaz Khan Sabi. He leveled massive rigging allegations against the Pakistan People’s Party candidate Arbab Zarak Khan who had won the election.
It was stated in the petition that the worst kind of disturbance, obstructions and interference in election process were witnessed on the polling day at all polling stations of Ward No 40.
It accused the local police of backing Arbab Zarak Khan and directing all the polling officers to send the election result to the police station. The petition said after consolidation of result, petitioner was declared successful and the news was which published in newspapers.
It said overnight the influential parents of Arabab Zarak played their decisive card. They prevailed upon polling staff/returning officer and changed the result and showed Zarak Khan as the winning candidate.
