Foolproof security on Eid: RPO
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: Multan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sultan Azam Taimuri Tuesday said foolproof security would be ensured for citizens on Eid days in Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and Lodhran.
Talking to reporters, the RPO said security would be tightened at markets, bazaars, shopping plazas, bus terminals and railway stations across the region from Chand Raat.
He said more than 6,000 cops and volunteers would perform duty to avoid any eventuality. He said there was no specific terror threat for Multan on this Eid. The RPO said motorcycle stunts and teasing to women would not be tolerated at any level. Taimuri said some 739 cops would be deployed at all entry and exit points. He said Eid prayers would be 170 open places and 2,044 mosques and some 4,163 cops and 1,783 volunteers would perform duty. The RPO said 67 mosques are declared sensitive and are placed at category ‘A’ where extra ordinary security measures have been taken. Some 60 markets have been marked for security on Chand Raat where tight security steps would be taken, the RPO said. He said 294 cops would be deployed at recreational parks. He said cops on horses would patrol the city too. He largely appreciated police officials for working hard in scorching heat.
