DSP gunned down in DI Khan
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: In an apparent targetted killing incident, unidentified assailants shot dead a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) official on Diyal Road here on Thursday, police sources said.
They said unidentified persons opened fire on Deputy Superintendent of Police Noor Muhammad Khan as soon as he stepped out of a mosque in Khairabad Colony near his residence after the maghrib prayers. The assailants escaped after committing the crime.
Following the incident, a large contingent of the police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. A search operation was also started in the area to nab the perpetrators.
The body was taken to Dera Ismail Khan Police Lines for funeral prayers after an autopsy at the District Headquarters Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan. A large number of police officials as well as civil society members attended the final rituals.It may be mentioned here that target killing has been on the rise in the province for quite some time. Over 20 police officials have been targetted so far in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
