MPA says Chitral ignored in KP budget
CHITRAL: The Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) district president Saleem Khan on Tuesday said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government completely ignored the flood and earthquake-ravaged Chitral in budget for 2016-17.
Addressing a press conference here, the PPP leader lamented that the KP government had laid it focus on only five districts of the province by initiating development projects. He said the roads, irrigation system, bridges and powerhouses in Chitral suffered considerable damage during the last year’s floods and earthquake. He said the KP government had vowed reconstruction and rehabilitation in the district but nothing of the sorts could happen.
The MPA said the KP government could only approve Rs15 million instead of the Rs5 billion demanded by the Communication and Works Department for the reconstruction of damaged bridges and roads.
