The ‘Clean Punjab’ campaign is a cause worth pursuing vigorously. Aside from allocating more funds for buying equipment and recruiting more cleaners, we also need to inculcate cleanliness habits among the people.
Habits that discourage activities like littering and encourage proper waste disposal must be instilled at an early age. Students ought to be asked to clean their own classrooms after school, as is done in Japan.
