ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that the Co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former president Asif Ali Zardari had tried to target the most important institution of the country to hide his own failures and weaknesses.
According to TV channel reports, Chaudhry Nisar said the statement of Zardari was extremely inappropriate, unwarranted and contemptuous. He said targeting a national institution at a time when its personnel were offering sacrifices of their lives for the country was highly condemnable.
The minister said no institution but the former PPP government’s performance and its actions were responsible for its declining popularity graph. He said the style of politics adopted by Asif Zardari may cause an irreparable loss to our national identity and institutions. He said this dangerous brand of politics was condemnable.
He said Zardari’s statement apart, every Pakistani citizen respects the Pakistani military and its leadership. Shakeel Anjum adds: Chaudhry Nisar said the report submitted by the DG Rangers Sindh should not be politicised.
He said the DG Rangers Sindh was accomplishing a great task and the suggestions that he put forward before the Apex Committee will hopefully be considered by the Sindh government to control the law and order situation in the province.
The minister said that Rangers had emerged as a symbol of trust and confidence in Karachi and people feel comfortable in the presence of Rangers personnel. He said Rangers are accomplishing the most arduous task in Sindh, as they are countering street criminals as well as militants of terrorist organisations in Karachi.
He said the statement of DG Rangers General Bilal should not be politicised as there were many other things under the sky to do politics. He said the statement of General Bilal was quoted out of the context and some words that he never uttered were associated with him.
Commenting on the Army Act Ordinance, the minister said that the ordinance had been extended and questioned how can we serve the country and nation when politics are being done on every issue.
Chaudhry Nisar said that on the suggestions of DG Rangers, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah had constituted a committee and now it’s not good to politicise any good intention with wrongdoings as no one can deny the endeavours of Rangers and the Sindh Police to restore peace and the law and order situation of Karachi.
The minister said that investigations into the Dr Imran Farooq murder case were going on and within the next few days, he will brief the media on the status of investigations. He said coordination with the Scotland Yard was moving in the right direction.
He said the situation in Karachi had been improving and the efforts of Rangers, police and role of the provincial government was commendable. The minister, while answering a question about the statement of the MQM, said all institutions should work together and issues should be resolved administratively instead of doing politics on everything.
He said the DG Rangers shared information on basis of his one-year experience and performance and the chief minister Sindh had also formed a committee in this regard. He said the situation will improve by following the recommendations of Rangers. He said the situation in Balochistan was also improving and some separatists had also surrendered.
