Respect the accord

The repeated violation of the 1991 Water Accord has now escalated beyond a mere of interprovincial dispute and has become a crisis of constitutional defiance and federal imbalance. This landmark agreement, unanimously signed by all federating units, was meant to ensure equitable water distribution and preserve national cohesion.

Yet, its spirit is continually undermined, with the recently cancelled ‘six canals project’ being only the latest blow. We must reaffirm the supremacy of the constitution, the sanctity of interprovincial agreements and the necessity of equitable governance. Sindh’s resistance to these canals is not a parochial outcry but a fair demand for justice and representation.
