NAWABSHAH: A total of 58 union councils (UCs) have been carved in the district, while there were 51 UCs at the end of the district government system.
Figures in this regard given by Election Commission Nawabshah say there were 51 UCs at the time the district government was functioning. However, there were 32 after the closure of 19. Later during the delimitation process 26 new Union Councils were created, increasing the number of UCs to 58.
Sources in Election Commission Nawabshah said one Municipal Committee and 48 wards are set up in Taluka Nawabshah while the district has 115 wards. The new UCs raised in Taluka Nawabshah include UC Nadeem Khan Zardari while four old UCs are Chanesar-1, Chanesar-2, Khair Shah and UC Ghandtar.
In Taluka Sakrand nine UCs are finished while new UCs Bahawal Shah, Sukhio Manahijo, Fatehpur, Majeed Keerio , Punhal Khan Chandio, Marri Jalbani, Morio Lakho, Jamal Shah and UC Hasan Jamali are raised.
In Taluka Qazi Ahmad nine UCs are set up, which include UC Khalil, UC Noor Muhammad, UC Jarro, UC Derran, UC Mir Muhammad Jono, UC Pat Peeral, UC Faqeer Rasool Bux Unar Sunn and UC Mahrab Rai. In Taluka Daur UCs are included, they include UC Sher Ali Shah, UC Naniani, UC Rais Soomar Khan Jamali, UC Jam Datar, UC Mirza Farukh Baig, UC 68 Mori, UC Abdullah Khan, UC Hote Faqeer and UC Janab Khan Jamali.
District Shaheed Benazirabad will now have eigh town committees, including Daur, Jam Sahib, Sakrand, Shahpur Jahania, Qazi Ahmad, Bandhi and newly set up Town Committee Bucheri. The Regional Election Commissioner Fayyaz Husain has directed to submit objections if any at DC Office from June 11 to June 30, 2015.
