E-Court becomes operational in Rawalpindi

Accountability Court No.3, Rawalpindi Judge Sohail Nasir inaugurated the first E-Court here on Wednesday.
It is worth mentioning here that E-Court has been introduced for the first time in history which is aimed at ensuring provision of speedy and inexpensive justice to the people. The Accountability Court No. 3 Rawalpindi has been turned into an E-Court.
On the first day, Judge Sohail Nasir recorded statements of two important witnesses of the Modarba Case from different cities of the country through Skype.
Through the E- Court special cases from inside and outside the country and the statements of the witnesses will be recorded via Skype.
If some witness cannot come to the court being elderly or disabled, or if a witness is outside the country or an officer in the government department and remains engaged in official work, their statements can be recorded online.
The Accountability Court No.3, Rawalpindi is working under control of federal government.
The Accountability Court No.3, Rawalpindi Registrar Muhammad Salman Arshad said that E-Court system has been introduced for the first time in history. “It will provide speedy justice to public,” he added.
Accountability Court No.3, Rawalpindi Judge Sohail Nasir imposed ‘Fard-e-Jurm’ on two criminals in a fraud case. The court imposed ‘Fard-e-Jurm’ against two accused named Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Nazir involved in fraud of Rs32.49 million. The accused denied allegations levelled against them saying they were innocent.
The court recorded statements of two witnesses NAB official Shoaib Mehmood and SECP Registrar Shaukat Hussain through newly established online system on the occasion. The witnesses were out of city but they recorded their statements through Skype on Wednesday.
NAB prosecutor Waqar Abbasi said that 37 complainants registered their complaints against two criminals for looting innocent people. He said that the accused in 2012-13 started their business from Taxila. The company name was Islamic Investment Company and looted Rs32.49 million.
“We have arrested one accused Muhammad Arshad but his brother Muhammad Nazir has been declared proclaimed offender in this case,” he added. The court has adjourned the case till June 27, 2016.
