KP govt decision to establish varsity in Chitral welcomed
PESHAWAR: A former Member of National Assembly (MNA) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali Thursday welcomed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decision to establish a full-fledged university in Chitral, which has been reflected in budget documents for the next financial year.
Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, the JI leader said that the new university should not be named after any politician.“As the university would be built and run on public exchequer, it should not be named after any politician,” he added.
The existing campus of Khan Abdul Wali Khan University in Chitral has been functioning in a rented building. Abdul Akbar Chitrali also appreciated the Khyber Pakhtun-khwa government for allocating fund for Swat Expressway, which, he said, would not only facilitate the people of Malakand division but also improve tourism in the province.
