Sindh govt to set up police stations against profiteers

The government of Sindh in a meeting has decided to set up police stations specially to take action against profiteers.

Officials said on Tuesday that Sindh government has decided to set up police stations specifically to take action against profiteers. In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Syed Waqar Mehdi, special assistant to chief minister for CM inspection team, and Usman Ghani Hingoro, special assistant to CM for the Bureau of Supply and Prices, in which it was decided to take action against profiteers across the province.

The meeting was attended by Suhail Ahmed Qureshi, secretary agriculture supply and prices, Dr Shakir Qayuum Khanzada, director general of the Bureau of Supply and Prices, the DG agriculture marketing and other officers from the agriculture department.

Hingoro said that steps would be taken to establish police stations to take action against profiteers, and the police stations would be staffed by Bureau of Supply and Prices and police constables.

He further said that it is imperative to stabilize prices of essential commodities and to stop hoarding. It was further deliberated that all godowns would be registered before the holy month of Ramazan, special stalls will be set up in bachat bazaars with discounted prices and notified rates would be implemented of fruits and vegetables.

Hiongoro further said that police stations specifically to deal with hoarders and profiteers would be established, so that appropriate action could be taken against them. Complaint centres will be established before the advent of holy month of Ramazan so that consumers may lodge complaint.
