For the first time in its history, the monthly revenue of Karachi Water Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has exceeded Rs2 billion.
Mayor Karachi and Chairman Karachi Water Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) Barrister Murtaza Wahab said this revenue would fund development projects, operational expenses, and payments to retired employees.
He emphasised that boosting the water corporation’s revenue was crucial to addressing Karachi’s water supply and sewerage issues, ensuring uninterrupted services for residents. When his administration took charge, the corporation’s revenue was significantly low, prompting the implementation of various measures, including facilitating water bill payments for consumers. As a result, revenue has increased substantially, and further growth is expected, allowing the corporation to enhance its operations across the city. The mayor also highlighted improvements in revenue recovery within the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
