KARAK: Awami National Party (ANP) president Senator Aimal Wali Khan on Tuesday urged the government and institutions to implement the National Action Plan in letter and spirit to get the country rid of terrorism once and for all.

“Instead of labelling Taliban good and bad, there should be indiscriminate action as per the National Action Plan. If the state does not fulfill its responsibility, terrorism will spread to the entire country and then no one will be safe,” he said while addressing a public

meeting here.

The event was also addressed by ANP provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain, district president Shahnawaz Khattak and Ahmad Farooq advocate.Aimal Wali said that the provincial government had lost its authority and the state must take serious measures to curb militancy with full force. He said that the ANP was always defeated in elections under one pretext or the other but all the conspiracies failed to weaken the party.

“Elections have always been rigged through various means, sometimes by disrupting the RTS system and sometimes by blocking the way with huge sums of money to keep them out of the assemblies,” the nationalist leader alleged. He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan had now started writing letters, and in the next phase, he will be seen begging.

“The same person, who used to preach his workers lose patience, has now lost his composure and is seeking mercy. However, he will soon be punished for the events of May 9,” he predicted.

Aimal Wali Khan demanded that the charges against LT-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed should also include clauses related to election rigging and stealing the public mandate so that no one in the future could dare to misuse power and sabotage the people’s mandate.

He made it clear that his party was striving to protect the resources and rights of people. He reaffirmed ANP’s commitment to its three key points - peace, democracy and provincial autonomy - and vowed to render every sacrifice to achieve the desired goals.

He said that Punjab had always benefited from the resources of Pakhtuns, adding that the ANP had consistently fought for the rights of its people and would continue the same in future as well.
