LAHORE:The 4th Anna Molka Awards and art exhibition organised by Punjab University College of Art and Design (CAD) were inaugurated here on Monday.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali speaking at the inauguration said that fine arts not only reflected and educated society but also created hope for betterment. Principal CAD Dr Samina Naseem, former principals, faculty members and students were present.
The participants paid tribute to the founder of the College of Art and Design and renowned artist Anna Molka. Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that fine arts played a positive role in taking the society forward. He said that positive thinking promoted positive trends in society; therefore, fine arts would be promoted in PU.
Dr Samina Naseem said that Anna Molka founded the college in 1940. She said that Anna Molka’s artworks were masterpieces. She said that Anna Molka’s artworks and her teaching method were still worthy of imitation.
She said that the Anna Molka Awards were a tribute to her enduring historic legacy. This year, we received 250 submissions, and out of 250, 118 outstanding submissions have been selected for review, across six categories: painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, fiber arts, and digital arts, she added.
Workshop on ‘Meta-analysis’
Punjab University Library and Institute of Information Management jointly organised a one-day workshop on 'Meta-analysis: Techniques Tools and Best Practices'. Institute of Information Management’s Dr Irfan Ali was the resource person for this workshop while more than 50 faculty members, researchers and medical professionals from different universities participated in the workshop.
The resource person explained theoretical and practical aspects of meta-analysis along with hands-on practice training about two software, (Meta-Essential and Comprehensive Meta-Analysis). Later, IIM’s Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Rafiq and Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani distributed certificates among participants.

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has conferred PhD degree to Muhammad Kaleem in Computer Science after completion of his doctoral thesis on 'Assessment and Analysis of Student’s Computational Thinking Skills using Machine Learning.'
