PESHAWAR: Assistant Media Manager of Lady Reading Hospital, Naheed Jahangir, along with her sisters, on Friday called on the Inspector General (IG) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to take notice of an attack on them and ensure the arrest of the perpetrators.

During a press conference held at Peshawar Press Club, Naheed demanded justice and protection for her family, alleging police inaction in the case. She said that on the night of January 18, at around 11 PM, she and her two sisters were returning home from a wedding when their cousin, Roman, intercepted their auto rickshaw.

The woman alleged Roman dragged them out of the three-wheeler and subjected them to physical violence.Naheed said she suffered a head injury after being hit allegedly with a pistol, while her sisters were also severely beaten, leaving them wounded.

She said that her family has no personal enmity or property disputes with anyone.Despite this, the perpetrators, including Roman and his accomplices, Sajida, Faisal, and Hidayat-ur-Rehman, continued to threaten the family.

“After the attack, Roman and Sajida warned us that we survived this time, but we wouldn’t be so lucky next time,” Naheed said.Naheed accused the police of supporting the attackers and failing to conduct a proper investigation. “The police have yet to retrieve CCTV footage of the incident,” she added.

She appealed to the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other state institutions to take immediate action to arrest all the suspects and provide justice and security to her family.Naheed warned that if any harm came to her family, the responsibility would lie not only with the attackers but also with the state for failing to protect them.
