Under the directives of Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) on Thursday reported that it had resolved 841 out of 1,305 complaints regarding open manholes in the city.
Taking a proactive approach, the KWSC has prioritised the swift resolution of these issues. According to a report, the Complaint Management Centre's helpline (1334) has received 1,305 reports about open manholes, of which 841 have already been addressed.
Out of the 399 complaints about broken manholes, 200 had been repaired, significantly improving the city's sewage system. Efforts were underway to resolve the remaining 30 per cent of the reported issues.
A KWSC spokesperson confirmed that complaints had been reported from various areas, including Safoora Town, Orangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Gadap. Citizens are encouraged to report any issues via the helpline at 1334 at any time.
The mayor has been personally overseeing daily progress to ensure quick resolutions, with KWSC officials reiterating their commitment to improving services. They emphasised that addressing citizens' needs remainedthe administration’s top priority.
