QUETTA: Judicial Magistrate Court One in Gwadar has granted bail to four students of the Baloch Students Action Committee who were arrested for setting up a book stall in front of Dhoriyah Academy.

The court ordered their release after they submitted a bail bond of Rs40,000 each. The lawyers representing the detainees included Advocate Mir Adil Kalmati, the Acting President of Gwadar Bar, Senior Advocate Rustam Baloch, former President of Gwadar Bar, Advocate Siddique Zamurani, Advocate Nawaz Niaz, and Advocate Tariq Hassan. The lawyers argued before the court that the students’ actions did not fall under any illegal activity.

Meanwhile, the Gwadar Bar Association issued a statement condemning the actions of police. The statement said the police arrested the students and filed a baseless case against them, terming it a conspiracy to keep the students of Gwadar away from education.

A spokesperson for the Gwadar Bar Association emphasised that the association would continue to play its role in upholding the rule of law and democracy in the country. The statement also noted that the political leadership of Gwadar should have strongly responded to this action. The Gwadar Bar assured it would stand with the students.
