KARACHI: Karachi Division proved their dominance by clinching 14 gold medals and winning the overall trophy as the three-day Sindh Beach Games Sunday concluded with a colorful closing ceremony held on the Clifton beach.
Out of Karachi’s 14 gold medals, eight were bagged in boxing discipline. Hyderabad stood second while Sukkur Division finished third. Sindh Minister for Energy Syed Nasir Hussain Shah was the chief guest at the closing ceremony held at Nishan Pakistan.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Abdul Aleem Lashari delivered the welcome speech. Parliamentary Secretary for Sports Saima Agha, International Athlete Naseem Hameed, Asghar Baloch of Sindh Olympic Association were also present on the occasion.
Nasir said the Sindh government has started the Sindh Premier League and Sindh Junior Premier League to promote sports and unearth great talent. Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mehar deserves congratulations for organizing sports activities. In the three-day Sindh Beach Games more than 500 male and female players participated in 8 disciplines of games and demonstrated their skills to the best of their ability.
