LAHORE: On the instructions of Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali, a piece of land was reclaimed from alleged illegal occupants who were allegedly residing illegally for over 50 years.

A PU spokesperson claimed that 37 families were allegedly illegally occupying university land in New Campus near Punjab University Health Centre, Campus Bridge for 50 years and had built houses on precious 12 kanals.

Some employees had sold the university land and given possession of the houses to outsiders. PU VC Dr Muhammad Ali had taken notice of the alleged illegal occupation as soon as he assumed office, on which notices were issued to the illegal occupants.

In this regard, Dr Muhammad Ali did not even listen to the calls of some important personalities to prevent the illegal occupation from being reclaimed. The spokesperson, however, did not name 'important' personalities. The administration, headed by PU Director General Dr Rehan Sadiq, conducted an operation late night and demolished the illegal houses.
