Govt not serious in finalising ToRs: Qureshi
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: PTI leader Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi Saturday said the government is not serious in finalising terms of reference (ToRs) on Panama Leaks and constitution of a judicial commission.
Talking to The News here, Qureshi said the public accountability means general elections. He said attitude of ministers showed that the government was not serious on developing consensus on TORs and setting up of the judicial commission. He also referred statements of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif wherein the minister had said that Panama Leaks was not the matter of public interest and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had said that only the masses had the right to accountability. Qureshi rejected the impact that the opposition was targeting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, saying that the PM voluntarily presented himself for accountability.
He said the united opposition and the government TORs would apply on all politicians, including Imran Khan and others, maintaining that if Imran Khan was ready for accountability then how the PM can be exempted from the accountability of Panama leaks. To a query, Qureshi said the united opposition has prepared TORs with consensus and all parties were supporting the PTI stance on corruption. If an opposition party betrays from unanimously signed consensus TORs in the future, it would answerable to public, he said. However, the PTI was not interested in solo flight on TORs issue, he said. The PTI leader said the PTI would keep association with united opposition at any cost.
