A protest sit-in being held by the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) at Numaish in Karachi against the troubled security situation and violence in Parachinar continued for the third consecutive day on Thursday.
Concerned religious scholars and eminent persons participated in the protest and called for peace in Parachinar.
Addressing the participants of the sit-in, MWM central leader Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi said women, senior citizens and children had been part of the latest agitation despite extreme cold.
He told the audience that the MWM had been peacefully protesting after the Parachinar violence in a similar manner it protested peacefully in the past countrywide against atrocities on the Shia Hazara community.
Naqvi mentioned that national assets had never been damaged in the MWM’s protest drive.
He recalled that a past protest drive by the MWM had exposed the terrorists involved in major terror incidents in the country, including incidents in Hazara Town, Parachinar, Gilgit-Baltistan, Imambargah Ali Raza, Nishtar Park, Ashura procession and Army Public School Peshawar. He announced that the current agitation drive would continue till the MWM’s demands were met.
Naqvi said ineligible politicians and extremists should be held responsible for most of the damage done to the country.
He eulogised the services of the elders of the Shia community for creating a separate homeland for Muslims in Indian sub-continent and later for strengthening their native country.
The MWM leader lamented that terrorists had martyred a large number of doctors, engineers, traders, scholars and leaders of the Shia community. He said their protest drive would continue till the elimination of the last terrorist on the Pakistani soil.
The MWM also held protests at other locations on Thursday causing traffic jams on various roads.
