Woman commits self-immolation over domestic row

FAISALABAD: A married woman committed self-immolation over a domestic dispute at Allama Iqbal Colony.
Rizwana doused herself with petrol and set herself alight. As a result, she received serious burns. She was shifted to the Allied Hospital where she died.
SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS: On the orders of CPO Afzal Ahmad Kausar, police have started strict vigilance of 682 mosques and other worship places in the district during the month of Ramazan.
Over 1,000 policemen and 1,500 volunteers have been posted in and outside the mosques and other worship places. Meanwhile, the CPO warned the policemen detailed at mosques and other worship places that no negligence would be tolerated and those found complacent during duty hours would be taken to the task. He directed the SPs and the DSPs to conduct surprise checking to ensure that the policemen and Razakars posted at mosques and other worship places were performing their duties.
TWO KILLED ON ROAD: Two people were killed and 18 others injured in two road accidents here on Tuesday.
In the first incident, a passenger bus turned turtle after colliding with a rickshaw near Khurrianwala. As a result, rickshaw driver Allah Rakha was killed on the spot while 18 bus passengers, including Sughran Bibi, Rabia Ahsan, Kiran, Rabia Shahid, Iram, Sajjad and Imran, were seriously injured. They were shifted to a Khurrianwala hospital.
In the second incident, Nawazish Ali was crushed to death by a speeding car near Abdullah Bridge on Samundri Road.
KILLER CONVICTED: Tandlianwala Additional Sessions Judge Nadeem Akhtar Sheikh awarded life imprisonment and Rs 100,000 fine to Muhammad Yaqoob of Chak 455/GB in a murder case.
The court, however, acquitted another accused Musarrat Bibi, giving her the benefit of the doubt. According to the prosecution, the convict had killed the husband of Musarrat last year.
THREE GAS THIEVES HELD: The FIA arrested three people on the charge of stealing gas. The FIA team raided a hotel at the general bus stand and arrested three persons for stealing gas from the mainline for the last many years.
SIX BOOKED: Sadr police have registered a case against seven people on the charge of illegally selling state land. Arshad Warraich reported to police that Zahid Yousaf and six others had allegedly sold the land reserved for construction of a government building at Chak 234/RB.
Jobless youth ends life

FAISALABAD: A jobless youth committed suicide at Chak 206/RB.
The youth had been jobless for the last six months. On Tuesday, he ended his life by swallowing poisonous pills.
