One killed, four injured in blast near FC vehicle in Quetta
10th suspect of Quaid Residency attack held

QUETTA: A man was killed and four others, including Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, were injured when a bomb exploded near a security forces vehicle here on Friday.
Police said the incident occurred near a hotel on the Qambrani Road area on the outskirts of the city. The bomb exploded when a security forces vehicle was passing by. As a result of the blast, a man was killed on the spot while the FC personnel and a passer-by sustained wounds who were taken to the Civil Hospital, Quetta, for treatment. Police said the explosive material was planted in a rickshaw. The blast also damaged four other rickshaws and two buses.
Later, the FC officials and CCPO Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema visited the scene of the blast. The CCPO said that 80 to 100 kilograms explosive material was used in the attack. On the other hand, law enforcement agencies have arrested the 10th suspect involved in the attack on the Quaid-i-Azam Residency in Ziarat.
Meanwhile, at least 29 militants have been killed in a province-wide operation led by Frontier Constabulary (FC) against insurgency and terrorism in Balochistan.DIG FC Brigadier Tahir and Home Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti shared details about the crackdown while addressing a press conference in Quetta on Friday.
The FC operations in Mastung and Kalat districts of Balochistan left 20 militants dead and several injured while hideouts of terrorists were also destroyed. Four FC personnelwere also wounded. Six more militants were arrested in a crackdown against Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) in Mushkay area of Quetta.
Operation was also conducted in Zhob, Loralai and Ziarat districts where eight terrorists were killed including two suicide bombers.DIG FC said that 1,350kg explosive material has been recovered from Killa Abdullah during the operation.
“Five hideouts of the militants were destroyed in the operations,” Brigadier Tahir said.12 suicide vests, six RPG-7 rifles, 40 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 12 explosive tunnels and six bombs were recovered in the operations.
Chemical drums and other explosives were also found in possession of militants during successful operations.Sarfaraz Bugti said the government will restore law and order in the province at all costs. He said the operations against terrorists are going on as per the National Action Plan. He asked terrorists to surrender before the law, otherwise be ready to face the music.
