Lanjar visits Huawei HQ in China for Karachi Safe City project

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar visited the headquarters of Huawei Technologies in China on Monday to evaluate the equipment required for the Karachi Safe City project, and meet senior officials of Huawei.

Huawei Technologies is supplying equipment for the Karachi Safe City project. Recognised as one of the world’s leading companies, Huawei’s equipment is in high demand globally. Lanjar also visited Huawei’s Dongguan R&D (research & development) village, where he was given demonstrations of medium- and small-sized drones among other security-related advanced technologies.

It was noted that these innovations can play a significant role in promoting technological advancement in Sindh. The minister appreciated Huawei’s technological capabilities, and discussed future needs.

He also visited Huawei’s LTE network equipment assembly line. Huawei officials briefed him on how the latest automated processes ensure efficiency, accuracy and high-quality production. They highlighted that their world-class technology is well-suited for projects like Safe City.

The home minister’s visit is being hailed as a key milestone in promoting technology in Pakistan, and ensuring the success of the Karachi Safe City project. Lanjar is also accompanied by Muhammad Iqbal Memon, additional chief secretary (home); SP Ahmed Chaudhry, PSO to the minister for home and law; DIG Asif Aijaz Sheikh, Sindh Safe Cities Authority director general; Bilaluddin Sheikh, planning, policy & coordination specialist (home department); and Tabassum Abbasi, Sindh Safe Cities Authority chief technical officer.
