QUETTA: Unknown individuals set fire to a monument near Kalat, destroying two cultural statues installed on it.
According to Kalat police, the incident occurred late Friday night, when the monument, located near the historic Miri Fort, was deliberately set ablaze.
The monument, constructed four years ago by the Communications and Works Department (C&W), featured two statues symbolizing Baloch culture. These statues were prominently placed at the entrance to Kalat, welcoming visitors to the city and showcasing its rich heritage.
The fire caused significant damage, reducing both statues to ruins. Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects and initiated a search operation to track down those responsible for the act of vandalism. The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who view the monument as an important symbol of their cultural identity. Authorities have yet to comment on potential motives behind the attack, but the destruction has raised concerns about the preservation of cultural landmarks in the region.
