KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet on Wednesday abolished the provision for the deceased quota in accordance with the order of the Supreme Court. The meeting was chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM House.

The cabinet was told that on September 26 the SC had passed an order, whereby the court had declared recruitment against the deceased quota (job quota reserved for children of deceased government employees) inter alia under Rule 11-A of the Sindh Civil Servants (Appointment, Promotion & Transfer) Rules, 1974, to be discriminatory and ultra vires under articles 3, 4, 5(2), 18, 25(1) and 27 of the constitution.

Given the orders of the SC, the cabinet approved the deletion of Rule 11-A from the Sindh Civil Servants (Appointment, Promotion & Transfer) Rules, 1974.

The meeting was attended by all the provincial ministers, advisers and special assistants, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, the CM’s Principal Secretary Agha Wasif and the secretaries concerned.
