Visitors throng The News Education Expo in Multan
From Nadeem Shah
MULTAN: Despite scorching heat, thousands of people, including women, visited The News Education Expo 2016 on Old Bahawalpur Road here on Thursday.
Senior politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi inaugurated the event while National Assembly former speaker Syed Fakhar Imam inaugurated stalls and appreciated the Jang Media Group for hosting such an outstanding education expo.
Students along with their parents inquired about admission policies and courses offered by local higher education institutions as well as foreign-based universities. The students said that the event would help in bridging the divide between urban and rural areas. “Thank you The News and Jang Media Group for organising the education expo,” the students remarked. A large number of students showed interest in the online and on-the-spot admission facility at respective education institutions. Students showed interest in the subjects of media studies, electrical engineering, literature and information technology.
The students said that they could access university information on internet but most of the time their queries were not addressed properly. They said that direct meeting and interaction with the university officials was very helpful.
Senior politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi appreciated the event and said that it would help in promotion of education and literacy rate in south Punjab. He said that the people had lesser opportunities of education in the region and the event would help bridge the gap between developed and underdeveloped areas.
Britain College International Country Head Madam Uzma declared the event remarkable. She said that the participation was much more than their expectations. The staff members remained busy throughout the day in dealing with the students, she added.
Concordia Colleges of Beaconhouse Group representative Col Abid Hussain (retd) appreciated the expo, saying that it was great to have all information under one roof.
Institute of Southern Punjab Director Imran Khalid said that the expo gathered students at one platform and they shared their experiences with each other. He said that the Jang Media Group had established a good tradition by organising the event in the remote region of south Punjab.
National College of Business Administration and Economics Director Jehangir Ahmad said that it was an outstanding effort by the Jang Media Group because south Punjab region was deprived of such opportunities. He said that the students were unaware about educational institutions in the region.
All Pakistan Newspapers Society President and Jang Media Group Managing Director Sarmad Ali, Jang Media Group North Marketing Director Sadia Sharif, Group Director South Uzma Rizvi, Jang Multan Resident Editor Zafar Aheer and education expo organisers Ali Imam Zaidi and Asghar Ali were also present on the occasion.
