Fugitive killed in Okara encounter
OKARA: A fugitive was killed in an encounter with Sadr police near Arazi Wadhawa village on Okara-Faisalabad Road, some 15km from here on Monday night.
Police received information that fugitive Ali Zulqarnain of Arazi Wadhawa village, who had escaped along with Tanvir alias Tanni from the judicial lock up at the district complex on May 21, was present in the village. The police raided the village to arrest fugitive Ali Zulqarnain. But the fugitive with his seven accomplices opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. As a result, criminal Ali Zulqarnain was killed on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape.
Meanwhile, DPO Faisal Rana said that the killed fugitive was wanted by Gogera and Okara Sadr police in four murder and dacoity cases. Police have registered a case under Sections 302, 353, 148 and 149 of the PPC. The then judicial lockup in-charge Saeed Mohal, who was injured by the fugitive on May 21, is still in intensive care unit at the Jinnah Hospital in Lahore.
