Siraj for indiscriminate accountability of corrupt elements
ISLAMABAD: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on Monday said there should be no exemptions while carrying out accountability of corrupt elements as relatives of the rulers have been involved in corruption.
“If the rulers are not involved, their relatives are involved in corruption, therefore, there should be no concessions or exemptions while holding the accountability of corrupt mafia,” Sirajul Haq said while addressing a national youth Jirga here at a local hotel. The Jirga was participated by a large number of youth representing different political and religious parties.
Siraj said Almighty Allah blessed Pakistanis with a country but the corrupt elite and the ruling class pushed it towards the menaces of corruption, illiteracy, terrorism, price hike and poverty. “There should be no more concessions with the class responsible for these evils,” he said.
He pointed out that the country was also facing economic, moral and electoral corruption which is as threatening to Pakistan as other types of terrorism. “ The elite class is multiplying their wealth by raising factories while sons and daughters are deprived of basic facilities of health and education,” he said, adding the government is planning to impose more taxes whereas the national organisations are being sold out against throwaway prices in the name of privatisation.
Siraj observed that billions of rupees of rulers’ families are being kept in foreign banks and offshore companies whereas the country’s young generation was made hostage to the World Bank and the IMF. He maintained that the young generation, if given an opportunity, could play a frontline role in making the country sovereign and corruption free.
He said that Jamaat’s corruption-free Pakistan movement was not associated with a single party, rather it was voice of the whole nation. He also invited the youth to fully participate in the JI’s anti-corruption movement.
