PESHAWAR: A resident of Mardan has moved the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the appointments of hospital director and medical director at the Mardan Medical Complex.

The petitioner requested the court to declare the notifications of the appointments as illegal and unconstitutional. Mohammad Asim, who is a resident of Mardan, filed a writ petition through his lawyer Khalid Hameed Advocate.

Provincial health minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary, principal secretary to chief minister, Search and Nomination Council, secretary health, additional secretary Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs), Chairman BoG Mardan Medical Complex, medical and hospital directors were made respondents in the case.

The petitioner said that the chairman of the Board of Governors made the appointment to accommodate blue-eyed persons. It said that a decision of the PHC in August, 2024, had banned the recruitment, adding the provincial Health Department had also issued an order banning recruitment and on procurement at the MTIs, but the appointments were made contrary to the ban.

According to the petition, the hospital director and medical director were appointed on August 24 but the notification was issued in backdates due to agitation and protest by the residents of Mardan.
