SBBWUP moot ends after bringing together researchers

PESHAWAR: The three-day international conference on Food and Applied Sciences arranged by the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar (SBBWUP) ended after bringing together scientists, experts, researchers and innovators, said an official on Monday.

“The conference was hosted by SBBWUP at Nathiagali resort of Abbottabad,” said Ms Sehrish Zaffar of SBBWUP who was among the team of organisers that collaborated for the event. The participants talked about food sciences, applied sciences technology and practical application, food processing and preservation, nutritional science and health, food quality and safety, food biotechnology, consumer choices, climate change and food security, food science and advanced food packaging technologies.

Prof Dr Kulsoom Paracha, vice-chancellor University of Multan, Prof Dr Malik Mojaddadul Rehman, vice-chancellor of Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, Prof Dr Shakeebullah and Agricultural University Dera Ismail Khan’s Prof Dr Saqlain attended the event along with several others.

Among those present were Mohammad Wajid, vice-chancellor of Okara University, Prof Dr Islamullah Khan, vice-chancellor of University of Mianwali, Prof Dr Aziz Rafique, vice-chancellor Fatima Jinnah University Rawalpindi, Prof Dr Muhammad Faqir Anjum, former vice-chancellor University of Sahiwal, chief executive officer Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America Pakistan, Faculty of Health Sciences, academy of Plock (Poland) representatives, Farah Hamid Khan, chief commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission, and Prof Dr Safia Ahmad, SBBUP vice-chancellor.

Dr Kulsoom Paracha talked about the educational reforms and standards of education and the development of research and innovation. Dr Mojaddadur Rehman dwelt on the role of universities in creating job opportunities. He called for collaboration with China on freelance courses and educational projects.

Dr Mohammad Wajid said that Okara University was increasing research projects.Tariq Sarwar Awan, who works on the preservation of food, talked about the new ways to preserve food. He offered internships to the students.As many as 96 researchers read out research papers at the conference and were awarded with certificates.
